ROCKFORD – State Senator Steve Stadelman is pleased to announce that Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois and Wisconsin Stateline Area has secured funding to build a diverse business ecosystem in the Rockford area.
“Goodwill Industries plays a vital role in our community, and this funding will further enhance their ability to support other non-profits,” said Stadelman (D-Rockford). “This grant funding will enable them to expand their reach and offer crucial training and resources to individuals and entrepreneurs who have historically been overlooked. By investing in these communities, we are laying the groundwork for a more equitable and prosperous future for everyone.”
Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois and Wisconsin Stateline Area, Inc. in Rockford received $250,000. This grant money will help to create a more inclusive business ecosystem. The funding will help organizations provide training and resources to individuals and entrepreneurs from historically disinvested communities to pursue job opportunities. Approximately $2.5 million was awarded to 10 recipients though the Illinois Economic Empowerment Centers Grant Program.
“Many non-profits have incredible potential but lack the expertise or resources to successfully secure funding through grants,” said Stadelman. “This initiative is about leveling the playing field and making sure that all of our local organizations have the chance to thrive and expand their impact.”
