Stadelman-secured funding helps land RVC training jet

Rock Valley College welcomed a Bombardier CRJ200 at its Aviation Career Education Center, making RVC the first school in the nation to train students on a fully operational jet of this size.

State Senator Steve Stadelman called the jet's arrival "another major development in local aviation education and employment" because the CRJ200 will help RVC develop a worker pipeline for AAR Corp and other local businesses that provide jobs and support continued growth of the Rockford airport.

Stadelman pledged to k

Stadelman backs bill to benefit families of fallen soldiers and first responders

State Senator Steve Stadelman joined Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza for a news conference at Rockford Police headquarters to promote legislation to ensure timely compensation for families of fallen first responders and members of the armed forces.

House Bill 5785, introduced by State Rep. Dave Vella of Rockford, will allow for what's called a continuous appropriation to prevent delays in providing benefits to next of kin when first responders are killed in the line of duty.

Stadelman pledged his full support to amending the state's Line of Duty Compensation Act, calling the bill "common-sense legislation that respects the pain of families whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities and their country.

Residents of The Cloisters asked great questions during a meeting this morning in the condo development's atrium. We covered a range of state issues -- including the recent tax relief package that's returning hundreds of dollars to families through income and property tax rebates, a sale tax suspension and gas tax freeze -- but also ventured into federal and local concerns. Thank you to everyone there for the opportunity to speak.
