Stadelman-supported EV rebates now available
Illinoisans who purchase all-electric vehicles will now be eligible to apply for a $4,000 rebate thanks to State Senator Steve Stadelman and other members of the General Assembly,
The state's Electric Vehicle Rebate Fund has nearly $18 million allocated for rebates for Illinois residents who by an EV vehicle starting July 1. , 2022. To be eligible, the vehicle must be exclusively powered and refueled by electricity by plugging in to charge and must be licensed to drive on public roadways. Stadelman and other lawmakers established EV rebates under the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, then expanded the original legislation this spring to include $1,500 rebates for highway-legal electric motorcycles.
Applications can be accessed online and must be postmarked on or before Sept. 30, 2022. More information, including instructions on completing the application and answers to frequently asked questions, can be found on the EPA’s website.
Stadelman is at the forefront of EV legislation, having led the effort in Springfield to pass the Reimaging Electric Vehicles Act -- a historic measure to save and create jobs acroos Illinois and secure the future of one of the Rockford region's largest employers: the Stellantis assembly plant in Belvidere. The state's REV Act provides tax credits and job training for automakers and part suppliers as the industry transitions to EV production.
"These incentives empower consumers and make Illinois more competitive in the auto industry," Stadelman said, "while supporting green transportation and living-wage jobs."

HoopStars rebounds for 8th year after pandemic-induced hiatus
State Senator Stadelman has opened online registration for his popular 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament. The global pandemic sidelined the FREE competition two years, but Stadelman aims to reclaim Labor Day on family calendars in 2022.
