At the end of last week, the Illinois Gaming Board’s gave its preliminarily approval to the Rockford Hardrock Casino. I’m pleased with that decision as this project will bring millions of dollars in revenue and thousands of jobs to the greater Rockford area. I look forward to continuing to work with the gaming board as we take the next step forward in this process.

 
 
Winnebago County opened its newest vaccination site at Auburn High School, where teachers in Rockford Public Schools are receiving the injection to prevent to the COVID-19 virus and where Gov. JB and Pritzkers were invited to tour. Vaccinating our educators is an important step toward children returning full-time to in-person learning and parents returning to their workplaces. Rock House Kids is looking for volunteers to work with 6- to 18-year-olds and for help raising $545,000 to renovate this recreation space -- $190,000 has been donated so far. Executive Director Dee Lacny took me on a tour this afternoon and updated me on the nonprofit that prior to COVID-19 served 250 kids and 9,000 hot meals annually!
